I studied for four years at Pace University's School of Performing Arts in NYC, graduating with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting upon completion of the program. I trained rigorously in those four years, exploring a full range of works from classical (with a focus on Shakespeare) to hyper-modern texts. After years of focusing on dramatic texts, during my college career I emphasized honing my comedic skills through training in Clowning, Improvisation, and Sketch Comedy. Specifics of my training and experience can be found by clicking the Resume tab at the top of this page, and all questions regarding training can be answered by emailing me directly: mesastorymelton@gmail.com
During my final semester at Pace I began releasing original content, written and acted by myself and co-collaborator Kaylee Simonson. With the help of For Lorne Productions, we have created a short comedic web series, Femiliar, which aims to promote feminist ideals in an accessible way through humor. Select episodes can be found on my Original Content tab at the top of the page.
I grew up in the small, southern city of Lubbock, Texas where I managed to find a progressive artistic community in which to thrive. I was able to foster my many interests throughout the years and pursued music (as a percussionist) as well as law (through years of mock trial) before focusing my attention entirely on theatre and film. Upon moving to New York, I uncovered my passion for social activism and aim to compassionately and intelligently weave that into the art that I create and am a part of. In the strenuous times we live in, I believe that artists can use the resources and skills we have developed in order to speak out and take to the stage, screen, and streets in a more meaningful way than ever before.
